A leading exploration company in Sierra Leone, AMR Gold Exploration Company has receiveda prestigious award as the Best Company for their exemplary contribution to boost community development and providing job opportunities to young Sierra Leonean graduates.
Presenting the award at the company’s headquarters in Freetown, Mustapha Kamara, the Public Relations Officer for the Sella Development for Education and Progress (SeDEP) said they are awarding AMR Gold for their support to education, youth empowerment, community development and welfare support to the elderly and other disadvantaged persons.
Highlighting the company’s support within and outside the Chiefdom, Mustapha Alfred Kamara previously said, AMR Gold rehabilitated the Kamakwie maternity which is currently providing medical services to about six Chiefdoms. He added that they have received One Thousand United States Dollars from AMR Gold to successfully carry out the annual Kamakwie Marathon in honour of Ambassador Foday Osman Yansaneh.
The National Coordinator of SeDEP-Alimamy S. Bangura explained that they have enjoyed a good working relationship with AMR Gold management, adding that the second edition of the Amb. OF Yansaneh’s Marathon would not have been successful without AMR Gold’s support.
Commending AMR Gold management, SeDEP National Coordinator said AMR Gold has constructed bridges linking villages to facilitate agricultural development, refurbished the Kamakwie Court Barry and Police Station, provided scholarships for both primary and secondary schools and built state of the art primary schools in SandaLokoand Sella Limba Chiefdoms respectively.
Receiving the Award, AMR Gold Admin and Finance Manager-Mr. Mohamed Sultan Daffae said “This award goes to all our staff for their dedication and commitment.” He also paid tribute to SeDEP and reiterated that the company’s door is always open to give a helping hand for sustainable development within the country.Daffae added that AMR Gold is currently constructing another school in Kayigrana village.
AMR Gold Country Manger-Luke Rogers commended SeDEP for what he described as ‘an impressive initiative.’ He said plans are underway to support primary schools in Sella Limba Chiefdom by providing desks and chairs to help create a conducive learning environment for the pupils. He said as indigenes of Sella Limba Chiefdom, they should continue to support AMR Gold to carry out its operations effectively.
