There was a mild shock in the Mile 91 trading town of Tonkolili District, Northern Province of Sierra Leone when three people where confirmed dead as a result of thunder strike.
The victims were identified as a girl, a boy and a man.
According to the Police local unit commander in Mile 91, the thunder struck and killed three people in the evening, sending three others into coma.
Sierraloaded gathered that the victims died of injury and shock from the thunder which struck them during rainfall in the evening.
Another victim of the thunder, an unidentified female, was said to have regained consciousness after being treated by some traditional healers.
One of the deceased, a bricklayer, was said to be working at a building site when the incident occurred at about 5.30 p.m.
According to an eye witness who spoke to Sierraloaded, the deceased man was washing his tools after close of work when the thunder struck.
The eyewitness said the deceased’s clothes were burnt from the impact of the thunder and was immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital along with a girl and a boy. However, efforts to revive them was said to be futile.
Three other victims of the incident were said to had come out of coma while deceased had been buried after traditional rites were performed.
