Two Sierra Leoneans returning home for the holidays from the US were detained at dawn today on the orders of the Deputy Inspector General of Police.
The arrest occured shortly after their Air Maroc plane had landed at the airport.
According to one of the detainees who spoke to Umaru Fofona, On the flight – which also had the police Number 2 man – they were discussing the situation at home including corruption in the police which a perception survey shows is the most graft-ridden institution in the country.
The two are still locked up in a police cell in the airport town of Lungi.
